Meet the Cartmells, a family of four living in the heart of Copenhagen. Helena and Lee both work in the creative industries while juggling life with two kids in the city. We asked Helena to share a few moments from their weekend in the South of Sweden, so join us, it’s just across the bridge …
Part 1: Not Just From A to B
I love the fact that our family has never owned a car. We used to live in Oslo before we moved to Copenhagen and we have never felt the need, at least not full time. We used a car collective for when we wanted to get away and that worked really well for us. But since we don’t have our own car it’s so much fun when we do get a chance to go wherever we want.
Well, wherever we want took us to our happy place, our summer house in the South of Sweden.
But first, coffee…I mean packing.
Our two kids, Lykke (7 yrs old) and Levi (4 yrs old) couldn’t wait for our weekend getaway and packed their own stuff into their little bag (by stuff i mean toys and teddy bears)… They were super excited about ditching the train for once and to be able to travel across the famous bridge from Denmark to Sweden by car. We also wanted to find a special place for a fika (you know, the Swedish word for coffee and cake). The planning is just as fun as the doing.
FInally ready to leave the city and start our mini-adventure by car……I know, it’s not that far but it’s not just the big trips that matter, but the little adventures too.
