We understand that due to the COVID-19 situation, you might not want to visit a store at this moment or that some stores are currently closed. While waiting to get an affected seat repaired, you can safely use your BeSafe iZi Go X1 by installing it with the vehicle belt. The potential safety risk only applies when using it with the ISOfix base. Here you can see how to install it with the vehicle belt: https://vimeo.com/393665762 We’re sorry if this causes you any inconveniences, but health and well-being are of course of the highest priority.
The repair can be done at most BeSafe retailers but not all, since not all shops have the repair kit available. You can find the list of retailers for the repair here.
No, the repair has to be done by an official BeSafe retailer for registration and insurance reasons.
The repair itself takes no longer than 10 minutes, but if the repair can directly be done when you get to the store depends on the store’s capacity at that moment of course. Please contact your retailer directly for this.
No, we have not received any reports about incidents or accidents related to this. We are issuing the recall as an own decision to eliminate any potential safety risk.
No, it is not needed to bring your receipt for this repair.
No, the issue does not affect BeSafe iZi Go Modular (X1) i-Size at all. Throughout all crash tests conducted with BeSafe iZi Go Modular (X1) i-Size we have never seen any issues. In addition, we even re-tested BeSafe iZi Go Modular (X1) i-Size in the extreme test to confirm its performance once again immediately after we detected the issue in BeSafe iZi Go X1. The connection-design of the BeSafe iZi Go Modular (X1) i-Size and the iZi Modular base is not identical to the connection design of BeSafe iZi Go X1 and its base, so that there is a different behaviour under extreme forces.
Immediately when issuing the recall on 9. March 2020, we have put out a sales stop until all existing stock of affected BeSafe iZi Go X1 has been reworked. And of course all newly produced seats will have the rework implemented. So when you buy a new BeSafe iZi Go X1 from 16. March 2020 on, this one will have been repaired and perfectly safe to use. Please look for the “CHECK 2020” sticker on the bottom of the seat next to the serial number label. This sticker shows you that the seat has been repaired.
No, this repair is free of cost, even if the seat is not covered by warranty anymore.
To see if your seat is affected, you have to check the serial number on your seat. For this, turn your seat upside down. On its bottom side you find a white label with a bar code and “Serial no./ID” beneath it.
If your seat is a BeSafe iZi Go X1, its serial number begins with “ZG”. Only seats with a serial number from ZG0247548 till ZG(0)270529 are affected and have to be repaired.
Your seat is safe to use while you install it with the vehicle belt only.
But even if you are not having an ISOfix base with your BeSafe iZi Go X1, we kindly ask you to have your seat repaired anyhow, in case you might want to sell it or gift it to someone later on who might use it with an ISOfix base.
No, the repair will, of course, be free of cost for you.
No, the BeSafe iZi Go ISOfix base does not need to be repaired. The affected component is in the baby seat itself only.
The repair of this takes no longer than 10 minutes.
