Why should the child car seat be positioned either completely against, or at least 25 cm from the back of the front seat or dashboard? (X1)

When a rear facing child car seat is in touch with the car interior, it will be supported by the car interior during an impact, which gives an optimal crash performance. When this is not feasible, it’s best to create significant distance between the interior and the child car seat to avoid an impact with the car interior when the child car seat will move during the crash. However, please note that these are recommendations for the ideal positions. If these cannot be achieved in your car, it is also fine to install it with getting as close to the ideal positions as possible.

What is the partially hovering installation for and how does it work?

Besides its three in-built recline positions, iZi Plus X1 also features the special installation method of partially hovering. With this method, the end of the seat’s base that is at the front brace can hover a bit above the vehicle seat, allowing to counter-balance sloping vehicle seats. Important for this installation method is:

– The other end of the base that is towards the support leg has to rest on the vehicle seat. The child seat is not allowed to hover completely

– The support leg has to have a minimum 90 degree angle towards the vehicle floor or should be pointing slightly towards the seat in front. The support leg must never be pointing towards the vehicle seat that the child seat is on

– The front brace (‘anti-rotation bar’) must be pushed firmly into the backrest of the vehicle seat, so that the child car seat does not move when being pushed.

What are the height limitations for iZi Plus X1?

iZi Plus X1 is approved to ECE R44-04, which only has weight limitations. From a practical perspective, it is recommended to start using BeSafe iZi Plus X1 when the child can sit by himself/herself, which is typically around 6 months. Sometimes, children can already start using the seat earlier, but please consult with your local retailer face to face for this.

The end of the usage time is reached if the child has reached 25 kg, if the child’s shoulders don’t fit underneath the headrest in its highest setting, or if the top of the ears are at the top end of the headrest.

In what way does the SIP+ improve the safety of the iZi Plus X1?

SIP+ is an additional safety feature that is placed on the side of the BeSafe child car seat. It is constructed to absorb energy and reduces the load on the child’s neck and head in two ways: First, SIP+ reduces the distance between the seat and the door, thus shortening the movement in a side impact, resulting in less force on the child. Second, SIP+ functions like a car’s crumple zone and absorbs energy.

For which age is the iZi Plus X1 suitable?

It is recommended to start using BeSafe iZi Plus X1 when the child can sit by himself/herself, which is typically around 6 months. Sometimes, children can already start using the seat earlier, but please consult with your local retailer face to face for this.

iZi Plus X1 is approved up to 25 kg, which means approx. 5 years based on average values. However, please note that this is just an average value and does not limit or guarantee the usage time. iZi Plus X1 must not be used anymore if the child has reached 25 kg, if the child’s shoulders don’t fit underneath the headrest in its highest setting, or if the top of the ears are at the top end of the headrest.
